The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is established under Food Safety and Standards Act (2006) which consolidate various orders that have hitherto handled food related issues in various Departments and Ministries.
Food Safety and Standards Authority of India has been created for laying down the science based standards for articles of foods and to regulate their manufactures, storage, distributions, sale and imports to ensure availability of safe & whole-some food for human consumption.
FSSAI has made compulsory for all the food business operators to get registered with it. Food license is compulsory for all the FBOs.
