Vendors & shanty shop owner of city will have to make sure that they have food license as food department has made it mandatory and would enforce the rules from 2014.
The
nodal officer of food and medicine departments informed that Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) has made certain
provision of the Food Business Operator Act mandatory. From February,
2014, all vendor and shop owner who sell edible are required to have
license issued under Food Business Operator Act.
He informed that vendor who would not have license would be
punished with the imprisonment upto 6 months or fine to the
tune of Rs 5 lakhs or both. The department has decided
to organise camps and seminars at various localities of the city for issuing
the license to the shop owners.
